Charles III’s coronation date revealed
King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla
The coronation of Charles III will be held on May 6, 2023. This was announced by Buckingham Palace last night.
The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey in London, headed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Along with Charles III, his queen consort Camilla Parker-Bowles will also be crowned at the ceremony.
The palace said in an official statement.
But the NYT, citing its sources, said the ceremony was held during World War II in 1953. He reported that Elizabeth would be much more modest than her coronation. Charles III is expected to shorten the duration of the ceremony, shorten the guest list, and abandon some outdated rituals.
Earlier, a number of media reported that the ceremony will take place on 3 June 2023, but this information was unofficial and was later denied by Buckingham Palace.
Prince Charles became Charles III and his mother was Queen of Great Britain II. He automatically ascended to the throne on 8 September after Elizabeth’s death. Two days later, he was proclaimed king with an official ceremony.
A coronation is a religious ritual in which the new monarch is “anointed and blessed” by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Westminster Abbey has been the site of the coronation for over 900 years.
