How Prince William and Kate Middleton deal with new status: the royal family’s first official visit to Wales

On the eve of Prince William and Kate Middleton, they visited for the first time the Duchy of Wales, which passed to them from Charles III. Local residents were delighted with the meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

According to the people, Prince William is even studying the ancient national language. “He talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welsh phrases he was trying to learn,” says Stephen Bunting (one of the royals). The prince is described as practicing the expressions “paned” (cup) and “bara brith” (traditional Welsh bread).

“He’s throwing himself into a new role,” says Bunting of Prince William. “The fact that they came here on the first day speaks for itself.”

“It was great. The Prince and Princess of Wales talked to everyone in the building, young and old,” he says. “It’s clear that people in Wales are eager to hear their stories. They were incredibly interested in everyone.”

Kate Middleton is reportedly being particularly friendly with the citizens (as always, in fact). “He was great. All the kids loved him. Stephen Banting’s wife, Rachel Bunting, spoke to them and he didn’t do it in a condescending way, and they appreciate it,” he says.
