European cities glow blue and that’s not good news

As if air and soil pollution were not enough, blue lights are becoming more and more present in Europe… at the cost of harmful consequences for humans, but also for the ecosystems that surround them.

Seen from the sky, the night has changed color in the cities: a study by the English University of Exeter, taken from the Guardian and speaks International mailidentified a change in European night lights. Blue LED lights are bad for the environment

However, researchers show that the blue lights produced by these LED lights are not without consequences on the Old Continent. Indeed, exposure to blue light in the evening and at night it can cause suppression of melatonin production, a hormone that serves, among other things, to regulate sleep in humans, but also in animals. Their proliferation could therefore have large-scale negative effects sleep quality in citiesand therefore on the long-term health of the people who live there.

LED, light pollution for the environment?

Furthermore, a greater presence of these LED displays would also reduce the visibility of the stars. It could also interrupt the behavior of animals.

Information to take into account, at a time when the climate emergency is bringing more and more people ask for the extinction of billboards they often work with LEDs and other window lights at night: not content with being expensive in terms of energy and resources, these lights are also bad for your health, as they are light pollution.
