The heroes in the middle of the shell are back, but this time they exchanged New York family sewers with the unpredictable streets of New Jersey.
The next animated short film Turtles Ninja Mutants teenagers: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jerseydirected by Kent SekiHe throws the turtles in a new territory, offering a wild mix of slapping comedy, stylized animation and a surprising dose of the heart.
The story begins when a mysterious company of toys begins to exploit the reputation of turtles. Follow the clues brings Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael through Hudson and in a greater mystery than they expected.
“We wanted to honor the story of the Ninja turtles while asking us what would happen if we put them somewhere completely unknown,” said Seki in Variety. “New Jersey has become the perfect background because it is so close to New York, but has its energies and oddities that challenge turtles in new ways.”
Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey It brings the spirit of what fans love the franchise with high energy and self -conscious martial arts action, adding a new turning point. According to Seki, the tone pays homage to the chaotic fun of the family comedies of the 90s but remains rooted for the modern public.
“I grew up loving both the house alone and the Ninja turtles, and this project has become a way to destroy those influences,” he said. “Turtles are constantly in survival mode – but here, survival means understanding the shirt.”
Seki, who worked both in the live action and in the animation, said that this short film gave him the opportunity to bring his sensitivity to the world of TMNT while keeping the fans intact.
“Every time I work with iconic characters such as turtles, you have to give fans the personalities they love – Leonardo’s discipline, Michelangelo’s humor, Donatello’s technological obsession, Raphael’s temperament – but then asking:” How are we surprising? “For me, the surprise came from the setting and the way we used the animation style to increase those contrasts.”
I love the visual style of this Ninja Turtles franchise. The characters are designed with exaggerated style and attitude, set on gritty and photorealistic backdrops.
“It was a matter of making the turtles burst against an environment that seems almost too real, so every slice of pizza and sewer cover becomes a character in its own right,” explained Seki.
While this is a short film, Seki suggests that it could lead to more unexpected adventures. “I think the audience is hungry for new ways to experience these characters,” he said.
“We always love to see them in New York, but throwing them in an unexpected place opens the door to new humorous, new balls and new visual possibilities. If people connect with this, I would like to continue to explore it.”
I will try to make fun of her!
