A first complaint had been filed without follow-up but LGBTI + associations don’t give up : Stop homophobia, Mousse, Adheos and Gray Pride have filed a complaint against Minister Caroline Cayeux for “public homophobic insult and public incitement to homophobic hatred” and they became civil parties
Last July, the Minister for Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities was questioned about his support for the Manif pour tous in 2012 and 2013. During these violent debates, he would describe the demands for equality as ” whim “, from“a disrespectful and senseless opening of rights”qualifying as a purpose the right to marriage and adoption for same-sex couples “against nature”.
A “those people” who do not pass
Almost ten years later, what about you, who are not the only member of the government composed of Elisabeth Borne to have held positions contrary to equal rights? On the public Senate set, Caroline Cayeux responded who stayed true to his words, however, arguing that he would enforce the law. He could have stopped there, but not: the minister brought up the topic “I have a gay friend”, in the worst way.
“I’ll tell you this though I have many friends among all these people. Frankly, it’s a bad test they’re doing to me and it upset me a lot (…). I’ve never been part of La Manif pour tous, I’ve never walked the runway, mind you.
With his ” These people “ Imbued with false courtesy and true contempt, the minister has unleashed the anger of many LGBTI + people. And his apology didn’t really convince:

“The words used by Caroline Cayeux,” against nature “, have a very heavy meaning”the associations recalled today in a press release.
“They also refer to the terminology of the repression of homosexuals in France. Etienne Deshoulières, lawyer of the associations, recalls that “the petanist law of 1942 also used the term” against nature “to describe homosexual relationships”. It is the source of around 10,000 convictions between 1945 and 1978.
Even today this expression is used by the laws of French-speaking countries that criminalize homosexuality, because it is considered “against nature”. LGBT + people live hell there every day. “
After the rejection of their first complaint in August for a crime not sufficiently characterized, the associations therefore hope that justice will examine the case.
