Boris Johnson was filmed during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after the British Prime Minister arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit.
The Ukrainian embassy in the UK shared an image of the two talking at a table in the country’s capital. The embassy titled the image with a “surprise” and a jaw-dropping emoji.

Andrei Sibiha, the president’s assistant, also posted a photo on Facebook and wrote: “Boris Johnson’s visit to Kiev has just started with a face-to-face meeting with President Zelensky.”
The meeting was planned in extreme secrecy, according to the British Prime Minister, he flew to Poland and traveled by train to Kiev at night.
The couple are known to have been in regular contact since the Russian invasion of Ukraine six weeks ago. President Zelensky addressed the Political Chamber of the British House of Commons in London a few days after the war began.
The visit, seen as a strong sign of solidarity, comes on the same day 132 civilians were found shot dead in Ukraine, and after Zelensky accused Russian leader Vladimir Putin of war crimes.
