Luca Guadagnino to direct sequel to Call Me By Your Name

“Call Me By Your Name”

Like last year, Call Me By Your Name fans are waiting and hoping for the acclaimed teen drama to come out soon. But then director Luca Guadagnino said he wasn’t planning a sequel to the movie. “Honestly, my heart is still there, but I’m working on a new movie right now and hopefully I’ll be directing Scarface soon. I have a lot of projects, so I’m going to focus on this side of the Atlantic.” And it looks like he’s still ready to continue the sequel.

The director told reporters about this during the Telluride film festival the previous day. He shared his idea for a sequel to Call Me By Your Name.

“It will be more like the chronicle of the hero Elio, the story of a boy turning into a man. That’s exactly what I want to do.” Luca Guadagnino agreed.

It is not yet clear whether the controversial Armie Hammer will be withdrawn. Now the actor is accused of harassment and violence against his ex-girlfriend Effy from 2016 to 2020. He leaked correspondence with the player’s fantasies and stated that he would kill her. Another former star, Courtney Vucekovich, also claimed that Hammer mistreated her. At the same time, the Army denied everything.

Call Me By Your Name is a 2017 film based on the novel of the same name by André Aciman. A Jewish family and their 17-year-old son, Elio, spend the summer at their villa in Tuscany. Elio’s father’s assistant, Oliver, a young American scientist, comes to visit the house. The man is attracted to Oliver, but he carefully tries to hide his feelings.
