Nancy Pelosi
Paul Pelosi, wife of Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, was found guilty of drunk driving and fined $6,000 (about 360,000 rubles). He became a suspect in the accident in which people were injured. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Paul Pelosi was also sentenced to five days in prison. However, he will not be detained because the court owed him the two previous days he spent in custody, deleted two days for good behavior and replaced it with another day of community service. Pelosi was also sentenced to three years of probation. At the same time, Pelosi will retain her driver’s license: a special device will be installed in her car for a year, and alcohol will be checked before the trip.
On May 28, 82-year-old Pelosi was detained for drunk driving, but the politician’s husband was released on $5,000 bail. The speaker himself has nothing to do with the accident.
The Napa County Court (California) ordered Pelosi to pay $4.9 thousand in damages to the victim of the accident, as well as $1.7 thousand in legal costs.
Previously, Nancy Pelosi was in the limelight as her plane approached Taiwan, where she was on a diplomatic mission. China, which sees Taiwan as its territory, has warned that it is ready to take drastic measures regarding Pelosi’s visit.
