Artemy Lebedev, designer and founder of the ART.LEBEDEV studio, has released a documentary for his blog called “Tricolor” on a rather unexpected but very exciting topic. The blogger explores the cultural significance and evolution of the design of the Russian flag as the country’s national identifier. The premiere took place today, only on the Day of the State Flag of Russia. He literally immerses himself in the history of the Russian tricolor and clearly shows how the main symbol of our country has changed.

The designer reflects on how the flag can become a real “mark” of the state and how this can be achieved in Russia. Together with Lebedev, the audience seems to travel in time, learning more and more deeply the origin of such an important symbol for each country.
Researching the history of the Russian flag, the author spoke with historical experts who explained why heads of state and generals used banners several centuries ago and how the meaning of the flag for the country has changed over time. Artemy also attended St. Petersburg, where he had the opportunity to see the first ship flag of the Tsar of Moscow, on which Peter I first sailed to the open sea.
“One of the goals of my life is that the Russian state has such images and symbols that I want to admire and admire. Russia deserves the best state symbols, the best military uniform and the best money,” says Artemy Lebedev.

Watch the movie on Artemy Lebedev’s YouTube channel. The project was organized with the support of Vision Republic LLC and ANO IRI.
