Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said A$AP Rocky was charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm. The rapper is accused of shooting multiple shots at her ex-boyfriend during a fight in Hollywood in November 2021.
“Firing a gun in a public place is a serious crime that can have tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders in Hollywood,” Gascón said in a press release. “My office thoroughly reviewed the evidence in this case and decided that the addition of the specific firearms charge was necessary.”
The 33-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Rakim Myers, was arrested in April 2022 in connection with the shooting. Myers was returning from vacation with Rihanna when authorities arrested her at Los Angeles International Airport.
“At 10:15 pm on November 6, 2021, an altercation occurred between two acquaintances in the Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue area in the Hollywood area,” the Los Angeles Police Department said at the time of the arrest.
