Network discusses refusal of overseas Chanel boutiques to serve Russian customers
The Chanel boutique in Dubai refuses to serve customers from Russia. Such information is now actively discussed in telegram channels. Authors post messages from readers confirming that they have experienced similar discrimination before.

Share their experience and other network users. Therefore, the Antiglyanec Telegram channel provides screenshots of Instagram (owned by Meta, which is known in the Russian Federation as an extremist organization) stories of blogger Lisa Litvin, who is trying to buy a bag in Dubai. The girl said that Russians do not live in Russia and must sign a paper guaranteeing that they will not wear it in Russia. Only in this case can the goods be sold.
This is happening, it seems, not just in Dubai.

Yana Rudkovskaya, one of the main fans of the brand in Russia, has already commented on the situation.

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also could not remain silent – she also shared her opinion on the Telegram channel.
Some in the telegram channels ironically note that modern things from Chanel do not cause a desire to buy them.
However, netizens were still outraged by this approach to customers, accusing the brand of discrimination. Also in Telegram channels they ask how Chanel will return to the Russian market and how it will communicate with customers from now on.
Recall that once the image of the Chanel brand had to be cleaned from the story of the founder of the brand, Coco Chanel, about her connection with the Nazis during the Second World War, which stained her. In 2016, French historians reviewed archival materials and found the fashion designer’s name on lists of German intelligence agents.
However, it is still difficult to judge the situation unequivocally due to the inconsistency of information and the lack of official reviews of the brand.
For example, the Merciless PR telegram channel has given an ironic response to the controversy on the network by posting a photo of Dmitry Ozman, the development director of Russian Forbes, with a Chanel package waiting at the Louis Vuitton boutique in Dubai. According to the channel, the photo is relevant and submitted by subscribers. Later, however, the channel added that it probably gave Ozman a receipt that bloggers were talking about.
If the measures taken are correct, they are clearly linked to the sanctions previously imposed on Russia due to the special operation in Ukraine, which included a ban on the import of luxury goods, including clothes, shoes and accessories. The list of European sanctions included all goods whose wholesale value exceeded 300 euros per unit and in the US package – one thousand dollars per unit.
Even before these measures were taken, many luxury brands, including the Hermes, LVMH and Kering holdings, suspended deliveries to Russia and temporarily closed boutiques. However, buying luxury goods in Russia is still possible on multi-brand sites.
