Tiffany & Co has created ‘Atrium’, a platform to promote diversity

The iconic movie jewels Breakfast with diamonds has joined the community initiatives with a proposal called ‘Atrium’. So the company has sought to increase visibility and opportunities for historically underrepresented communities. In this way, they want to promote inclusion and diversity within the jewelry industry through the three pillars: creativity, education and community.

CEO of Tiffany & Co., Anthony Ledru spoke about ‘Atrium’ focusing on the importance of creating positive change in the world: “At Tiffany & Co. we have a responsibility to bring about positive change in our world. Tiffany Atrium enables us to streamline and scale the processes required to do so.” First on his list of contributors is American visual artist and community builder Derrick Adams.

As for the platform’s name, they were inspired by the heart-shaped necklace that reads: Return to Tiffanyand which refers to the heart as the central space around which a house is built.

Derrick Adams is a visual artist who is currently experimenting with collage, with clear symbolism and recycled materials. In this artistic style, he designed a work commemorating the launch of Tiffany ‘Atrium’, which he titled ‘I Shine, You Shine, We Shine’ and from which the platform’s logo is derived. This artwork was auctioned and 100% of the proceeds were donated to The Last Resort Artist Retreatan artist residency founded by Adams in Baltimore, his hometown.

Additional programming for tiffany atrium will launch in the fall and will be opportunities that support the long-term growth and development of students and institutions. Upcoming programs include:

  • Tiffany & Co. Apprentice programs: Eight interns will be identified through the Metiers d’Excellence Institute (ME Institute) of LVMH and the New York State Craft Apprenticeship Program for a two-year rotational program at the Chamber’s major facilities. Recruitment will target diverse and historically underrepresented communities to create opportunities and build an inclusive pipeline of talent.
  • Tiffany & Co. and HBCU: Education and career opportunities will be created for students in the fields of creative arts and communication at selected historically colored colleges and universities (HBCUs). Includes $2 million for the Scholarship Program About love in collaboration with the Shawn Carter Foundation Y BeyGOOD and association with fashion row from Harlem.

As a core part of the initiative’s community pillar, they will connect nonprofit employees, students, and leaders to “grow and celebrate and celebrate shared values ​​and a commitment to improving the world we live in”. To do this, it will partner with non-profit organizations such as: Free art, Ali Forney Center Y Lower East Side Girls Club. They will work with them throughout the year and also with global creatives and institutions to promote opportunities for underrepresented artist communities.
