2000s style still sets the rules – we wear jeans from head to toe

Last Fashion Week once again reinforced the position of denim on the pedestal of the main trends of the upcoming season. If it was sung at last year’s shows by Alexander McQueen, Chanel and the sensational Fendace collaboration, this time denim has taken over almost the entire podium. Loewe, Isabel Marant, VTMNTS, Coperni, Balmain, Acne Studios and many other fashion houses rely on this material in their latest collections. And in various variations: from patchwork (which every second fashionista freaks out over the last year) to good old classics. And the trend in Y2K is the culprit (this abbreviation stands for Year 2000, so zero).

It won’t take me long to remember why. At the turn of the new millennium, the girls of the glamor era literally monopolized denim and transformed it to fit the decade. The high waist was replaced by an ultra-low fit, and with it all kinds of prints, chains, rhinestones and other attributes of that time.

Meanwhile, the world has also seen one of the most iconic denim total looks. We’re sure you guessed it we talked about Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the AMA Awards. A patchwork dress for the rising pop star of the Wermen scene was created by stylists Kurt and Bart.

Paris Hilton was also among the main admirers of Levi Strauss’s invention and appeared in shiny tops, often paired with very low waist jeans.

But in fairness it should be noted that jeans became a classic long before they were zero. At one time, the screen was an integral attribute of the cowboy, worker’s uniform and, of course, the main item of the hippie wardrobe. And in the USSR in the 80s, good jeans were an unspoken sign of financial well-being.

Now jeans are a classic that is probably on the shelf of every person, regardless of age. However, trends change almost every season, carefully adapting to the mood of the public.

The pandemic has also contributed to this trend. Since 2020, almost every designer has rethought this material and made jeans a new trend in haute couture. At the last Fashion Week in Milan, all the heroes of street style seemed to agree, and they organized a secret show, the main character of which was denim.

And let’s not forget Julia Fox, who has managed to visit Kanye West’s girlfriend, aspiring fashion diva, and outrageous queen status since earlier this year. At the Kenzo show at the end of January, she and Mr. Ye appeared in a full-on jeans look. Then Giulia chose a Schiaparelli top and Carhartt jeans. A month later, Fox again preferred this material. And what’s more, he customized the image himself. Julia cut her jeans and made a blouse out of them.

We recommend that you listen to what all glossy magazines, fashion influencers and designers have to say and buy a thing or two from this material. By the way, don’t be shy. Rebellion and a bit of madness are in trend now. We’ve gathered the coolest options in one collection to make it easy for you to find the perfect one.
