Will Smith openly apologizes to Chris Rock after Oscar incident

It’s been a few months since the scandal at the Oscars with Will Smith and Chris Rock, and everyone seems to have forgotten that already. But not Will Smith. He finally decided to apologize to Chris Rock in front of everyone.

Recall that during the ceremony, Chris Rock made an unsuccessful joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The truth is, she faced alopecia and lost most of her hair. “Jada, I can’t wait for Soldier Jane 2 with you” Will Smith didn’t ignore the host’s statement: he took the stage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock on the air.

But not only Chris Rock, but Will Smith himself suffered in this story, which unsuccessfully joked on the world’s main movie award scene. The American Film Academy fired the actor from their roster and banned him from appearing at their events, while Sony stopped working with Smith altogether. And although she turned to Chris Rock on her social networks, apologizing for the inappropriate display of aggression, she decided to put an end to this topic the day before. Will Smith recorded an entire video addressed to the presenter.

“It’s been a minute… I’ve done a lot of thought and work over the past few months. You asked a lot, but it took me a while to find the right answers.” The video begins with this preface.

“I contacted Chris, but in response I learned that he was not ready to just talk to me. Will Smith begins, — I’ll tell you now, Chris. I offer you my apologies. My behavior was unacceptable. I also want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I saw your interview. I didn’t know what I was doing could hurt so many people. I also want to apologize to his entire family, especially his brother Tony Rock. I’ve spent the last three months replaying things in my head. And I can say something. There is not a single part of me that thinks this is the right thing to do right now.”Will Smith agreed.

Earlier, Jada Pinkett Smith commented on the current situation on Red Table Talk. “Now, regarding Oscar night, I deeply hope two smart people can talk about it and reconcile,” the actress said.
