Netflix joins BBC drama “Champion” from “Queenie” writer Candice Carty-Williams;  Reveal Cast

Netflix has picked up the latest BBC drama. sample, A show from an award winner Queen Writer Candice Carty-Williams, who introduced the cast.

The broadcaster will acquire the rights outside the UK and Ireland of the eight-part musical drama.

Described as a “love letter to black British music” and set in South London, the show follows musician Bosco Champion, who returns from prison and is ready to dominate the music industry. But when Bosco’s rival, Bulla, discovers the talent of her mild-mannered younger sister, Vita, she steps out of her brother’s shadow to become an artist herself, pitting the champion brothers against each other and destroying the whole family in the process.

The series is by and produced by New Pictures and Balloon Entertainment. blue story Joy Gharoro-Akpojoto is the latest co-produced by BBC and Netflix, after hits such as Snake.

The couple are also developing disabled talent shows after launching their collaboration at the Edinburgh Television Festival last year.
