Bill Kramer, CEO of the new Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will make his international debut at the 79th Venice Film Festival, running from August 31 to September 10.
The festival and the historic Cinecittà studios shared the first official invitation to AMPAS, where Kramer will speak in a special event organized in collaboration with the sponsor Mastercard.
“The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is an international organization deeply committed to celebrating world cinema,” said Kramer. “We are delighted to join our family of films in Italy to expand and strengthen our mission to engage our members around the world.”
Kramer’s journey comes amid the fashion academy’s efforts to diversify and internationalize its members in recent years.
Roberto Cicutto, president of the festival’s parent organization, the Venice Biennale, and festival director Alberto Barbera affirm that the presence of AMPAS is an important signal for the Italian film industry, but also for the international one in general.
“This confirms AMPAS’s intention to open up more and more to international partners, but it is also an important recognition of the central role that the Venice Film Festival plays in promoting and strengthening the best films in general. In particular, American, ”they say.
