64th Grammy Awards Show The Situation In Ukraine Through Special Segment

Recording Academy collaborates with Global Citizen and the special episode of the global campaign “Sand Up For Ukraine” at the Grammy Awards on Sunday to raise awareness of the situation in the country after the Russian occupation.

The news follows Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky attending an online social media rally in support of what happened on April 9, addressing the international community on behalf of his displaced and war-wounded citizens. He had to leave the country. “I invite everyone: musicians, actors, athletes, businessmen, politicians, everyone,” said Zelensky. “Anyone who wants to join this movement and ‘defend Ukraine’.

Global Citizen, a recording academy partner, led European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in organizing the April 9 Vote For Ukraine summit to help mobilize funds for Ukraine’s humanitarian efforts. And support refugees everywhere. Hundreds of world-renowned musicians and artists pledged to join global social action and invited world leaders to help refugees.

“We regret the situation in Ukraine, but we still admire the daily flexibility there,” said Harvey Mason Jr., executive director of the Recording Academy. “We hope [Grammys] This segment inspires our global audience to get involved in supporting this critical humanitarian effort. ”

“History has shown that conflict and poverty are closely linked, leading to the weakening of the rule of law, the collapse of economic development and often catastrophic humanitarian situations. “There is no doubt that the conflict in Ukraine has triggered a humanitarian crisis – members of Global Citizen have seen it themselves at the Ukraine-Poland border,” added Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen. Millions have left their homes, millions more likely on the way. Global Citizen has a history of responding quickly to humanitarian crises and this is no different. We call for an immediate end to this crisis and urgent funding to support refugee relief, not just in Ukraine but around the world.”
