Tennis can rightly be called one of the most photogenic sports. However, in addition to rewarding him with the palm of his hand in terms of fashion. Now the development of the tennis court trend in the world fashion arena can be traced – perfectly bleached pleated miniskirts, polo shirts with contrast stripes on the sleeves and terry headbands are no longer actively used only on the court. Proof of this are the latest collections of world-famous brands, the organization of sports-oriented fashion events and, of course, social events.

Before we move on to dessert, it’s important to give a brief historical background – we promise, we won’t push you. From the beginning the main color of the tennis jersey was white – it just doesn’t show sweat. Women started playing tennis in the 1860s, and then miniskirts were out of the question. They performed in shirts, long skirts, and often in furs. Thanks to French tennis player Suzanne Lenglen, the situation began to take a modern turn: She appeared on the court in the 1920s in a knee-length pleated skirt and sleeveless shirt. Since then, clothes have become shorter and women have started replacing corsets with tops. Don’t worry: what can we say about playing tennis if it is not possible to breathe normally in a corset?

The first sign was the Jacquemus x Nike collaboration, and of course their product sold out in a matter of hours. “For my collaboration with Nike, I wanted to create a collection that reimagines women’s sportswear in a minimalistic way,” says Simon Jacquemus. And she really managed to combine sport and style: towel-laced tops, dresses with the characteristic features of a fitness bra on the back, and white miniskirts are not only in tennis history.

After that, the Miu Miu brand comes into play. Recently, the brand’s designers announced a collection in honor of the opening of the tennis club and held a sports-focused event. Success once again: cropped shirts, polo shirts, and towel-wrapped wristbands have popped up at top fashion journalists and influencers marked as “must get”. It is impossible not to say that before us is not just a toothless trend for a color, but a whole culture and aesthetics. Tennis is strongly associated with ease and excitement, so it’s fair to say that interest isn’t just sports.
