The trailer for The Idol series starring musician The Weeknd and actress Lily Rose-Depp has been released. Judging by the short video, the project will be bright and we will remember not only the stylish outfits of the main characters, but also the frank scenes.
The plot of “Idol” chronicles the novel of the cult leader (The Weeknd) and aspiring singer (Lily Rose-Depp). More details about the plot of the series are unknown. Based on the trailer, it is clear that the project will not be inferior to Eforia in its incitement. Moreover, Sam Levinson, the director of the aforementioned Euphoria, also had a hand in the creation.
The development of the Idol series began more than a year ago – on June 29, 2021. The Weeknd then announced that he would be creating a drama series for HBO with Sam Levinson and Reza Faheem. Performers Amy Seimetz and Joe Epstein also joined Idol. True, they quickly left the project due to disagreements with Sam Levinson and The Weeknd. But HBO did not react to it in any way. And he is more interested in “Idol” only.
“When Sam Levinsono, Reza Faheem, and The Weeknd first came to us and introduced us to the project, we knew it was going to be big! “This show is unlike any other HBO project,” said Francesca Orsi, vice president of HBO Programming.

Idol also stars Susannah Son (Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot), Steve Zissis (Cruella) and Troy Sivan (Malek).
Filming began in Los Angeles in November 2021, but was suspended in spring 2022. For unknown reasons, the show has decided to end and completely rewrite some scenes. Production officially ended in July 2022.
“Idol” will consist of six episodes, and although the project’s release date is not yet known, judging by the strong trailer, the launch of this series should definitely be expected this year.
