Lily Safra, Monaco’s richest woman, died on July 9 at the age of 87. His life can become the basis for an exciting movie – it is not surprising that his biography has been discussed on Telegram channels for several days. We have collected interesting facts and quotes.

A very impressive $1.3 billion fortune, Lily Safra inherited from her husband, banker Edmond Safra, who died in a fire more than 20 years ago. Lily was known as a socialite, philanthropist and collector – her jewelry collection is considered one of the best in the world. She was married four times (she had three biological children and one adopted child) and was widowed in her second marriage—her husband committed suicide and Lily inherited more than $200 million.

The socialite also came into contact with the world of Russian billionaires. Nothing personal here, just business. Safra sold his villa to the oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov, but the deal was never completed – as a result, Safra was able to obtain the right not to return the deposit he spent on the charity.

Bright and trendy telegram channels remembered Safra’s extraordinary biography in a series of posts.

Sergei Minaev, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Rules of Life”, devoted his post to the personality of Lily’s husband.

The relationship between Lily and Edmond was also dedicated to the text in the Telegram channel Jewelery Digest, which analyzes the history of their relationship in detail. By the way, the couple’s acquaintance took place after the death of her second husband, when Lily came to the banker for advice on inheritance matters. However, they got married only a few years later (during this time, Lily managed to get married a third time).

The text also describes in detail the tragic events that took place on the night of Safra’s death. Assistant and nurse Ted Maher (Edmond had Parkinson’s disease and Ted and nurse Vivian Torrente was constantly at home with him) launched a gun attack and then set the house on fire, relying on the rescue prize – however, in the end, he didn’t save anyone. Time was wasted because of the story about armed criminals: firefighters were not allowed into the apartments for fear that thieves might be there.

Ted Maher quickly became a suspect, confessed, then retracted his statement, but was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison.

But Lily herself also caused distrust among the public – the circumstances in which she was widowed again were dubious.

No charges were brought against Lily, but she arrived at Maher’s trial in old suits and without jewellery – modestly maintaining her own image on the advice of PR agents from London.

Maher eventually escaped from prison, but was later sent back and continued to serve his sentence. He still denies his guilt.
