What if the ultimate electric hair accessory is in your kitchen?

This time around, it’s in the kitchen drawers that our favorite tiktokers have gone to find their latest beauty trick. And as strange as it may sound, it works!

Who has never seen their hair stand on end and become totally uncontrollable after a good brushstroke? Like magnets, hair can be attracted to certain objects or textiles with an opposite electrical charge, making them difficult to tame.

What if the ultimate electric hair accessory is in your kitchen?

To help them get in line, there are many tips tested and validated by professionals and individuals (invest in a brush with natural bristles, use heating devices equipped with ionic technology, apply an oil or a moisturizer on its lengths etc.) , but if there is one that we would not have bet on, it is that of aluminum foil! Yet the results are there.

Aluminum foil, the unexpected accessory for antistatic electricity

You just have to look at the dozens of videos posted on TikTok to see that yes, foiling your hair really works.

But despite appearances, this trick isn’t magical, and it can be explained by science: Static electricity occurs in hair when it builds up an electric charge (i.e. when it gains electrons due to friction or a change in their environment, such as humidity). This causes the strands to repel each other causing them to fly around the head.

Aluminum foil, as it is a metal and conductor, helps neutralize static electricity by transferring extra electrons, helping to make the hair smoother.

Well, it’s not really rocket science, is it Jamy?
