Continuing the war of words between Florida and California and a possible rematch of the 2024 presidential campaigns, California Governor Gavin Newso has released a new ad that attacks Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Newsom’s 4th of July weekend ad says “freedom is under attack” in states run by Republican governors like Florida. It continues to demonize various resolutions led by conservative DeSantis.
“Your Republican leaders are banning the books,” Newsom says of the DeSantis footage. In Newsom’s ad, Republican governors “make voting harder, limit speaking in classrooms, and even criminalize women and doctors.”
The ad rebuts DeSantis’ April removal of San Francisco, which he claimed was a “fire dump” and expressed concern that his people had fled to Florida. If they did, DeSantis said they would likely introduce the same voting habits believed to have destroyed California to their state.
Newsom urged Florida residents to “join the fight” against DeSantis. He added that the disgruntled citizens of the Sunshine State “could move to California, where we still believe in freedom.” Freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom to hate and freedom to love. Don’t let them take away your freedom.”
