You know the concept of boxes of stories ? These small objects, with a generally well-designed design, allow children to have fun without screens listening to stories and tales. Relaxing, fun, educational and fun, they have established themselves in the sweet world of parenting for years.
While the general concept is virtually the same for all story boxes, not all are the same. We tested a small batchand we will help you to see more clearly in all proposed offers.
With big parties coming up and long car or train journeys looming, investing in one of these little boxes will allow your kids to take care of themselves in peace (and that’s just what we want, during the 8-hour ride, right?)
Our opinion on My factory in Histoires de Lunii
The brand Lunii and his Story Factory has become a staple in the story box market. The concept is at the top: the child can choose, using a knob to turn, which story he wants to hear, which character will take place in his story, the place or place where it will take place and which object will be highlighted. All without waves, without screens, without wifi and made in France. A winning combination!
The good points: its design, the concept of multiple choices and the fact that you can hear stories in different languages. Two stories are already included with the purchase of the Lunii.
The negative points: additional stories (downloadable via USB via the LuniiStore) cost a little, between € 5 and € 13.

Our opinion on Merlin de Bayard and Radio France
Merlinis the didactic enclosure proposed by Radio France and Bayard. This gives a pretty good overview of the quality of the stories on offer! Inside there are many things: traditional tales, nursery rhymes, educational and fun contents to discover space or history, yoga initiation to help children relax, nursery rhymes in English …
The good points: its high-quality content and its slightly retro transistor design
The negative points: a lack of battery level indication, which does not warn you when it is about to go out.

Our opinion on Joyeuse’s The Wonderful Narrator
We had already told you a little about all the good things that come to our mind wonderful storyteller, but here we add a layer. The principle is simple: it’s a cube-shaped story box, made up of 6 beautifully decorated sides. And when you shake the cube, a perfectly told story or music plays. No buttons, no screens, no waves! Two storytellers are available: the 0-2 year old child or the 2-8 year old child.
With the narrator, you can download more than 2000 titles from children’s publishers, also record your own stories and even directly import your favorite music, if you want your children to be David Bowie fans from the start, to give them a good basis in life.
The good points: very resistant, customizable and scalable (you can change the faces of the box with different designs as the child grows up). Entirely made in France.
The negative points: The use is not very intuitive at first, it takes time to pick it up correctly and a headphone jack is missing.

Our opinion on the Storyteller Faba
The Faba it is a small and practical speaker, very easy to use. The concept ? You put a small figurine on it (found in many shops) and the story (or music) begins. You can collect stickers, but also use the Faba only as a speaker to play music via Bluetooth. The volume is controlled especially for children, nor can they shake the walls by throwing “Little Snail” as if they were going out in a club.
The good points: Its small size, can be transported and placed anywhere
The negative points: The figurines are a bit expensive and only contain two stories, about ten euros, sound quality not at the top.

Our opinion on the Toniebox
A bit in the same atmosphere as the Faba just above, the Tony Box is a speaker that works with small figurines that must be placed on top to hear stories or songs. Portable, super quality and with a brilliant design, the Toniebox is also very intuitive with controls easily accessible to children, such as tapping on the sides to change chapters, pinching the ears of the box to adjust the volume …
Its more thing? Its partnerships with licenses and editions that cater to children, such as Paw Patrol, Disney, Pixar, Elmer or Asterix and Obelix. Enough to occupy the ears of the little ones for a long time.
The good points: It is solid, the design is very beautiful, the finishes are clean, the audio quality is perfect and it is available in different colors.
The negative points: A little complicated setup to set up at first, and a little expensive figurines to collect (which can be justified by the quality and duration of the stories)

Our opinion on my little Morpheus
My little Morpheus it is not a box of stories in the proper sense, but it is a meditation box that allows children to relax and unwind. Ideal for reducing arousal before bedtime, it helps to reverse the fate of the heir a little and allow him to calmly return to calm. With Mon Petit Morphée, children can do meditation sessions, listen to soothing music or sounds of nature and relax.
The good points: its autonomy from 7 to 10 days at full load, its design with its wooden handle and the 192 different types of meditation offered.
The negative points: the price a bit high and the impossibility of loading stories or atmospheres other than those included in the package.

Our opinion on Yoto player
Yoto, it does everything (or almost everything): radio, alarm clock, night light, story box… This small cube performs many functions by itself, even if it does not yet make coffee. In addition to the cards that can be collected and inserted to listen to stories or music (the choice is extremely varied), the Yoto also acts as a marker for children to learn the difference between day and night, thanks to its educational clock.
The good points: The cards are well classified by age, theme, language and you can even “create” blank cards to record your voice.
The negative points: a bit complicated to use at first and its price is a bit high.

Our opinion on Vtech’s Storikid
Vtech also has its own story box. The toy giant offers the Storikid, an interactive box that contains more than 80 short stories, poems, fairy tales, stories and songs, and which also projects animated images as the audio plays, just to energize the moment. Plus, the story box doubles as a night light and the little dog on top tells jokes every time it’s pressed. Well, they are jokes for children huh, but they are a good audience and it makes me laugh.
The good points: A large catalog of contents is already included in the package and you can download more.
The negative points: The design is not the most harmonious compared to other story boxes.
