Los Angeles Police Arrest Man For Attempted Flame Gun Murder During Local Roe V. Wade Protests

Street protest against the overturning of the Supreme Court’s ruling against Rowe Wade escalated violently from Friday to Saturday.

Two arrests were made in connection with serious incidents involving police and protesters in downtown Los Angeles, where at one point a standoff broke out and a highway was seized.

Around 8:20 pm on Friday, LAPD officers were attacked with bullets, fireworks and improvised explosive devices on 5th Street and Main, resulting in the arrest of two people and the injury of four officers.

LAPD officers arrested one for “resisting an executive” and another for “attempted murder.”

Michael Ortiz, 30, is accused of throwing a firearm at an officer who was being treated for burns, according to a press release on Saturday.

In another incident, 23-year-old Juliana Bernardo allegedly tried to steal an officer’s baton. Police said he was shot with a “less lethal” bullet and was arrested.

“The vast majority of those who attended were peaceful and law-abiding, but a much smaller group of people took to the streets to create mayhem and destruction,” police chief Michelle Moore said in a statement.
