Konstantin Bogomolov

Director Konstantin Bogomolov responded to the criticism of Vitaly Milonov’s play “Lear”. Bogomolov noted that the politician was clearly “disoriented” as he took the 10-year-old show to the premiere. The director decided to comment on this “false information”.

Bogomolov wrote on the Telegram channel.

Earlier, Milonov criticized the production by not appreciating the modern view of William Shakespeare’s work (there female roles were performed by male actors and male roles were performed by women, and the action moved to the years before the outbreak of World War II).

– Milonov added that in his meeting with Channel Five the previous day, he wanted this performance banned from being shown in Russia.

The politician suggested that Bogomolov wanted to create the image of a “persecuted Russian martyr” in order to emigrate – to go to Tbilisi to “miss and repent”, and then declare that he is “not Bogomolov, most likely a Ukrainian.”

The director did not respond to personal attacks against him.

Bogomolov wrote, urging everyone to go to the “Russian theater”, which is “one of the best, if not the best in the world.”

Former State Duma deputy Milonov is known for his harsh statements. What resonated most was his fight against the LGBT community. He also criticized McDonald’s and Coca-Cola.

Bogomolov’s wife, Ksenia Sobchak, was also suspected of wanting to emigrate earlier, after Russia denounced its special operation in Ukraine. Sobchak went to Israel, but later returned to Moscow. Bogomolov himself did not talk about the special operation.
