“Well, then why will it come to the fore from Russia?” – The folk artist wondered, stressed that Russian films were not a real chance of victory. Moreover, Mikhalkov expressed his opinion that the only way to enter international competitive programs is to abandon dignity. “We can only apply to the Oscar if we humiliated ourselves somehow,” he said.

With this approach, you can receive awards at the same Cannes or Venice festivals, Berlin or Hollywood, but this has nothing to do with the actual assessment of art.

Remember that Russian films have not been progressing to Oscar since 2022. Later, a scandal exploded around the rejection of the participation and a violent reaction in the film community. Mikhalkov was one of those who first supported his decision to boycott the prize.

Meanwhile, previously spoke about the victory of Anory in Oscar. And before him, in his opinion, he said that the film showed the image of a Russian person from the ugly side: “A disgusting oligarch, a disgusting wife, bastard-son and a bandit, but humane, but Russian.
