Following the news that Instagram* decided to change one of the main features of its application, the social network surprised all users with a new message. The service will now have a new application.

It looks like Instagram* has decided to switch to video format. Many people know that Reels is now a direct competitor to short videos on TikTok. Many bloggers even publish the same videos across platforms. The application decided to “help” users in choosing a social network.
The platform introduced Edits, a new video creation app that is available for pre-order to many users on the iOS App Store on Sunday and will soon come to Android.
“Today we’re announcing a new app called Edits for those passionate about creating videos on your phone. There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what, our job is to provide creators with the best tools possible,” explained Instagram* CEO Adam Mosseri.
“Edits is more than a video editing app; It’s a complete creative toolset. There’ll be a separate tab for inspiration, another tab for tracking initial ideas, a much better camera, all the editing tools you’d expect, the ability to share drafts with friends and other creators, and (if you choose to share your project if you’d like) “Videos on Instagram*—strong insights into how these videos work,” he continued.
It looks like the new app could rival not only the TikTok video editor but also other well-known smartphone apps for video editing.
Let us also remind you that netizens said goodbye to the square grid this weekend. Many did not like the new app update and went to complain on social networks.
