The whole world mourns the loss of David Lynch, a great director, master and wonderful human being. Some Hollywood stars, including Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, Antonio Banderas, Pedro Pascal and others, expressed their condolences for his death on social networks.

“I am heartbroken. My friend Day is gone and the world will never be the same without him. His creative mentorship played a huge role in my life. It helped me achieve success in the world that I had been trying to break into for over a decade and failed at every audition. Finally, I found myself in the presence of a radiant man who spoke words from another era, who made me laugh and comforted me. How did he manage to “see me” when I lost myself? Day’s influence on me was not limited to his art. “His wisdom, humor, and love gave me a confidence I had never experienced before,” said Naomi Watts.

“Reflecting on the time I spent in the magnificent and transformative world of Twin Peaks, I realized how much I owed to David Lynch. He didn’t just create worlds, he invited us to dream with him. His genius and unique vision will remain in our memories forever. Rest in peace David,” wrote “Titanic” and “Twin Peaks” star Billy Zane.

“With the departure of David Lynch, cinema has become a little less magical and magnificent. Thank you, master,” said Antonio Banderas.

“Losing David Lynch is a tremendous loss. He was an incredible artist, filmmaker, philanthropist and brilliant man. His work at the David Lynch Foundation inspired me and changed my life. I will continue to support this cause and carry the torch as much as I can. To his family and “I offer my sincere condolences and love to your friends,” Hugh Jackman wrote.
There were also those who shared only frames from the director’s films and photographs and could not put them into words.

Let us remind you that David Lynch’s death was learned on January 16. On January 20, the director would have turned 79 years old. In the summer of 2024, he was diagnosed with emphysema, a respiratory disease. “There is a huge void in the world because he is no longer with us. However, the producer’s relatives wrote that, as he himself said: “Look at the bun, not the hole.”
It’s time to reconsider Lynch’s iconic paintings and understand (at least try) the peculiarities of the visual style in them. And here we have collected ten quotes from the director.
