Bert, the giant crocodile from the famous Crocodile Dundee movie, passed away at the age of 90. She starred opposite Paul Hogan and became a real star.
The sad news was reported on social networks by representatives of the Crocosaurus Cove reptile park, where Bert lived in the last years of his life. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bert, the iconic saltwater crocodile and star of the Australian hit classic Crocodile Dundee. Park staff said an incredible era came to an end when Bert passed away peacefully this past weekend.
The film Crocodile Dundee, which starred Hogan as Mick Dundee, was inspired by the real-life adventures of Australian cattleman and buffalo hunter Rod Ansell. Made on a budget of under $10 million, the film became the highest-grossing film of all time in Australia when it was released on 30 April 1986. It also became the second highest-grossing film in the world that year, behind Top Gun.
