Austin Butler, 33, was officially cast as the serial killer played by Christian Bale more than 20 years ago.
We previously wrote that Jacob Elordi was in contention for the iconic role. Luca Guadagnino, the director of the new film adaptation, said that the film will not be a remake of its predecessor, but will be an independent adaptation of the novel by author and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis.
The original American Psycho movie was released in 2000. The main roles were played by Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, Josh Lucas, Reese Witherspoon, Cara Seymour and others.
