It has been revealed who is being considered for the role of key characters in the Harry Potter series

Since work on a new series based on JK Rowling’s books was officially announced in April 2023, the project has been the subject of unprecedented interest and close attention from fans. The excitement reached its peak with the casting of the series before its production began.

Now fans and the media are actively discussing potential candidates for the roles of teachers in the series. The first person to make the cut was Oscar winner Mark Rylance as Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore. Actor Mark Strong is also being considered.

As previously reported, the main candidate for the role of Severus Snape is thought to be Paapa Essiedu from the TV series “I May Destroy You”. In the original film, the role was played by the late Alan Rickman.

Rumors are also swirling that Emmy-nominated Bad Sisters star Sharon Horgan is being considered for the role of Assistant Director Minerva McGonagall, played by the late Maggie Smith in the films. There are also conflicting reports that actress Rachel Weisz is a candidate.

Meanwhile, Emmy Award winner and fan favorite Brett Goldstein is rumored to be reprising the role of Rubeus Hagrid, previously played by Robbie Coltrane.
