Nick Lachey, who was married to the actress from 2002 to 2006, opened up about their separation. He still remembers his grudge against TV host Jessica Simpson.
The 51-year-old actor said he understood the pain of divorce after breaking up with his girlfriend. “I’ve been married and divorced too, so I understand the pain and scars that remain from that,” Nick Lachey said, as quoted by E! News.
“Don’t let your past determine your future,” he added. Speaking about his new marriage to Vanessa Lachey, Nick noted: “What I’ve always really wanted in my life is to have a great marriage and a great family. “If I didn’t believe this, I would never have realized how wonderful my life is with this woman.”
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson met at the Hollywood Christmas Parade in Los Angeles in 1998. They then met again a month later at a Teen PEOPLE party in Florida and began dating soon after. The couple married in 2002 in a ceremony attended by 350 guests and subsequently starred in MTV’s reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica for three seasons, with their wedding immortalized in the opening credits.
In November 2005, the actors announced their separation, and a month later Simpson filed for divorce. Their separation was finalized in 2006.
Later, Jessica Simpson started dating former NFL star Eric Johnson, whom she married in 2014. The couple has a 12-year-old daughter, Maxwell Drew, an 11-year-old son, Ace Knut, and a 5-year-old daughter, Birdie Mae.
Jessica Simpson has previously hinted that she is already single. Fans suspected that she had separated from her husband.
