Davide Porto hopes to get fans excited about Marvel’s next film Lightning*. Right in front of him is Captain America: Brave New Worldwe’ve heard a lot about and, just three months after its release, we’ll finally see where the story of the Thunderbolts takes us and find out why there’s an asterisk at the end of the title.

Harbour, who plays Alexei Shostakov, aka Red Guardian, in the MCU, attended DC Commando of creatures party this week.

The actor voices the character Eric Frankenstein in the series, and during the event, CinemaBlend asked the actor how storytellers working in the superhero genre can keep things fresh. When it comes to Marvel, Harbor had this to say:

“Marvel is excited about its expansion, to a certain extent. And also, I think they’re making a little bit of a correction to avoid going too big, in a way, with the Disney+ stuff.

“I’m really excited for you guys to see Thunderbolts*. Because I’m impressed with the direction they’ve taken. And it’s amazing. It’s a real movie. I mean, whether you like it or not, who knows? But… I saw a cut of it and it’s really impressive.”

So it seems Lightning* It’s a new kind of movie for Marvel fans and Harbor is impressed! I know I can’t say much else, but I was already excited for the movie, and this just continues the hype for me.

Harbor went on to talk about the compelling relationships in this film, as well as in the MCU:

“This is what the film allows. They do the good things that Marvel does well. But they… also pay attention to chemistry. And I think there’s something about this group that’s special.

“It seemed to me like when you look Scarlett Johanssen AND Chris Evans. When you look at these chemistries between people, not to say that there are romantic bonds, but simply the chemistry of human beings is interconnected. I think that’s what we need in these films.

“Because we want to identify ourselves. We want to have an emotional connection when you see what Downey is doing with this vulnerability and this humanity. You enjoy all this and then you have, at the center, a real person. And I think it’s just electric.

It all comes down to solid storytelling and it feels like this movie delivered a great story and compelling character development. Lightning* will be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
