“Lone Wolves” director Jon Watts himself refused to work on a sequel. He talked about this in an interview with Deadline.
Watts’ collaboration with the Apple streaming service didn’t work out. He stated that the film was initially planned to have a wide premiere, but the platform changed its plans without notifying him. As a result, it had a limited release in theaters on September 20, and a week later the film was released on Apple TV+. “I was shocked and asked them not to disclose information about my participation in the sequel. “Apple ignored my request, and then I returned the money allocated for the sequel,” the director shared.
The main roles in the film were played by George Clooney and Brad Pitt – this is their first joint project in 16 years. The actors previously starred together in the Coen brothers’ black comedy Burn After Reading (2008). Additionally, the Hollywood stars appeared together in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven and its sequels, as well as a cameo on the sitcom Friends.
The plot focuses on two professional “cleaners”. They both prefer to work alone, but one day they receive an order from the same customer. Things quickly spiral out of control when a murder occurs in a hotel room. The corpse that was supposed to be removed suddenly comes to life and tries to escape with a bag containing a large amount of illegal substances. After weighing the risks, the lone wolf pair are forced to work together to get the job done.
