The terrifying snake Basilisk, the majestic hippogriff and other magical creatures that captured our imagination in the Harry Potter movies will return to the big screen. They want to show these in the new series.
Warner Bros. According to Deadline, Discovery is in talks with visual effects giant Framestore, which brought many of the magical creatures in JK Rowling’s books to life. The source said Warner Bros.: Discovery is also in talks with other visual effects companies, but Framestore is in a privileged position. So far both parties have declined to comment.
Buckbeak was one of the company’s most memorable creations. A team of 90 people worked for 15 months to create more than 80 hippogriff designs for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Framestore also recreated Dobby the House Elf for Deathly Hallows.
HBO’s president and CEO, Casey Bloys, said in September that the Harry Potter series would air in early 2027. HBO has not announced when production will begin, but it is expected to begin next year. Experts are investigating the possibility of shooting two seasons back-to-back to avoid serious changes in the appearance of the actors during the transition from childhood to adolescence between seasons.
