Cher has revealed that she was “seriously considering” killing her ex-husband Sonny Bono at the end of their tumultuous marriage. She wrote about this in her book “Cher: Memoirs.” Part one.” This happened after Cher became so unhappy that she contemplated death.
Cher, now 78, ended her marriage in October 1972 and told her husband she wanted to sleep with the band’s guitarist, Bill. The singer writes that he didn’t really mean it that way. But Sonny, who she said was too authoritarian, did not listen to the star’s previous pleas to let him go.
The couple separated but agreed that Cher would continue to live with Sonny for a week so as not to tarnish their public image. They were starring in The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, one of the most popular comedy shows on television at the time.
One morning at breakfast, Sonny surprised her by saying, “You know, after I left with Bill that night, I seriously considered throwing you off the balcony.”
The first volume of the book describes how Cher became a superstar without connections, support, plans or confidence. As a result, the singer became so famous that the world has been talking about him for half a century. The second part of the memoirs will be released in 2025.
