Archaeologists discovered an interesting find. It confirms that our ancestors loved cats too.
“During studies at two archaeological sites in the capital, red clay tiles with the image of a cat wearing a crown in the center of the composition were discovered. Their approximate age is about 400 years. “Both products were made by Moscow masters,” he said.
The first tile was found on Tverskaya Street. Archaeological excavations were carried out here in 2022-2023. 14.-17. In the 6th centuries the region was part of the White City, and in the 18th century it became part of the Kamer-Kollezhsky Val. The second tile with a cat in the crown was found in 2024 on the territory of the Chizhevsky farm on Nikolskaya Street.
Artifacts depicting cats have already been restored and are currently being prepared for transfer to the museum fund.
