A new VTsIOM study has appeared on the Internet about how well Russians know their neighbors. According to the survey results, we can conclude that there are fewer residents of apartments who know all or most of their neighbors than residents of private houses who know most of their neighbors.
It was also learned that half of the people living in apartments want their neighbors in the building to communicate with each other more. Among residents of detached houses, this figure is higher – 62%.
“Relations with neighbors are a complex social phenomenon. In a chance encounter, obligatory rituals such as greeting are avoided. The recorded neighborhood interactions aim to meet the most important human needs, such as communication, understanding, organizing and improving life, and mutual assistance,” says VTsIOM expert Alexander Gavrilov about the survey results.
