Contemporary art is a very vague concept. Some think this is provocative. Another confirmation of this was Maurizio Cattelan’s resonance installation in the form of a banana attached to the wall. According to The Guardian, this work will be auctioned at Sotheby’s contemporary art auction.

The auction will take place in New York on November 20. The cost of the work is estimated at 1-1.5 million dollars (100-150 million rubles). Note ed.). The lucky winner will receive a banana, a roll of duct tape, installation instructions for the piece, and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Sotheby’s calls the installation a “masterpiece” that “prompts the world to rethink how we define art and the value we seek in it.”
The priest first showed off a banana taped to the wall at Art Basel in Miami Beach in 2019. The work titled “Comedyen” (“Comedian”) was presented in three copies.
At the same fair, artist David Datuna ate one of the previously sold copies. He described it as a “Hungry Artist” performance and noted that the bananas were delicious. After his prank, the banana was changed and fenced.
The comedian’s installation sparked debate about the nature and value of art. The resonance was further increased by the statements of the Pastor, who said that he bought bananas for 30 cents (about 30 rubles). Note ed.).
Previously, a drawing by Viktor Tsoi was sold for 8 million rubles. Read the details here.
