Yura Borisov may receive an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for his work in the movie Anora. This was reported by Variety and IndieWire.

Borisov will compete for the statuette with Kieran Culkin (“Real Pain”), Guy Pearce (“Brutalist”), Stanley Tucci (“Conclave”) and Denzel Washington (“Gladiator 2”), Variety predicts. Mark Eidelstein was apparently nominated for best supporting actor, but audiences who saw the film were more impressed by Yura Borisov’s performance,” IndieWire noted.
We previously wrote that Yura Borisov was nominated for “Best Supporting Role” at the 2024 Gotham Awards. The award ceremony will take place on December 2. Overall, let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The plot of Anora follows the story of a heroine named Any-Anora (Mikey Madson) who marries the son of a Russian oligarch (Marc Eidelstein), thus angering her family. Marriage gives him a ticket to a luxurious life, so he is not ready to back out. Then his relatives send him a sextet – the quiet gopnik Igor (Yura Borisov), the Armenian Toros (Karen Karagulyan) and the pessimist Garnik (Vache Tovmasyan).
