An open-themed festival “1612” was held today in Moscow. While nearly 3 thousand participants gathered around the event, more than 350 thousand spectators watched the event online. We tell you how this happens.

In Russia, the field of computer games is actively developing and is becoming a serious competitor to cinema. This means people are interested in this story and it is important. Organized by VK, the event offered a variety of exciting activities, including masterclasses, lectures and discussions.

One of the highlights of the festival was Mikhail Myagkov’s lecture on the Time of Troubles, as well as a panel discussion on “Games as a socially significant element of the cultural code”, with the participation of experts from the gaming industry. During the session, current trends in Russian game development, the reflection of national identity in games and their educational and cultural values ​​were discussed.

Perhaps another highlight of the festival was the presentation of the update to the game “Troubles”, which allows players to interactively immerse themselves in a historical era and learn a lot of new things. By the way, this gives young people (and not only) the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Russia in a language they understand.

The festival focused on the importance of historical events for the country, immersing participants in the atmosphere of the late Middle Ages. Guests had the opportunity to try traditional handicrafts of past centuries, visit the gastronomy fair and participate in other events. The festival ended with the performances of the musical groups “Dereza” and RADYO TAPOK. There is definitely a chance that this event will become a new tradition to celebrate National Unity Day.
