Tim Miller gives us new details on his animated anthology series inspired by the SECRET LEVEL video games

Tim Millerthat we know for directing Dead Pooland create Love, death and robotstalked a little about his upcoming animated anthology series on Amazon titled Secret level.

While chatting with Variety at the Lucca Comic and Games convention in Italy, Miller spoke about the inspiration behind the show, saying:

“It seems like a simple idea: take characters from video games and tell original stories. This is what my company Blur has been doing for almost 30 years now.

“When I sold Love, death and robots at Netflix, I played an animation clip from a game from the Blur studio and said, “Give us some money and we’ll give you more shit like this.”

“Here we have 15 different games and so we get the fan base from all those games War hammer TO Sifu. It’s a tide that will lift all the boats in this harbor.

When asked how difficult it is to adapt the games, Miller explained: “You want to honor the game, but you also don’t want to make the material so niche that it doesn’t include people who have never played the game. We’re working closely with the developers.

“They give us the plot and tell us what the fans find interesting. We approached these writers from Love, death and robots. Many play games, so they had an affinity for specific games. They offer us stories set in these worlds. We choose the best.

“They write a prose version of the story, basically a short story. John Scalzi wrote one and Peter Watt wrote the episode “Armored Core”. He’s one of the most interesting science fiction writers around.

“These are diverse voices from a wide variety of genders, ethnicities and backgrounds. It’s not just two white guys sitting in a room.

When asked what the next level of his career will be, Miller responded hopefully, saying, “The game developers said, ‘We’ve enjoyed this process so much.

“What do you want to do next?” So hopefully Amazon sees the potential to give this gaming audience a new way to enjoy their characters and their worlds.”

It looks like it will be a fun series for fans. Every episode of Secret level serves as a “gateway to a new adventure, unlocking exciting worlds of beloved gaming classics and highly anticipated new titles.”

Get ready for an unforgettable journey, where Amazon MGM Studios and the best game makers come together in a one-of-a-kind event that brings together more gaming IP into one series than has ever been done before.”

Here is the list of games that inspired the 15 epic stories in the series: Armored Core, Concord, Crossfire, Dungeons & Dragons, Exodus, Honor of Kings, Mega Man, New World: Aeternum, PAC-MAN, PlayStation (featured various entities beloved by PlayStation Studios), Sifu, Spelunky, The Outer Worlds, Unreal TournamentAND Warhammer 40,000.

Secret level will be available exclusively on Prime Video from December 10th.
