According to Variety, Japanese company Toho has officially approved the next Godzilla movie from the creator of Godzilla: Minus One, Takashi Yamazaki.

The director, who won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2023, will recreate these in his next film. Godzilla: Minus One is Toho’s 33rd Godzilla film and the 37th to feature the iconic monster. By the way, the film has nothing to do with Warner Bros.’ Hollywood franchises, which include King Kong.
Godzilla: Minus One takes place in post-World War II Japan. In the story, a former kamikaze pilot who survived a near-fatal encounter with Godzilla suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. When the monster reappears years later, a group of soldiers must band together to defeat the monster before it destroys Japan.
The film stars Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando and Kuranosuke Sasaki. It is unknown whether the new movie will be a direct sequel to Godzilla: Minus One. The film was praised for its special effects and became the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film.
