Twilight star Anna Kendrick candidly shared her experience leaving a toxic seven-year relationship.
In the new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 39-year-old actress, without naming her ex-partner, admitted that she had a hard time accepting that she was in an abusive relationship because it did not fit with conventional ideas of marriage. abuse
“I read a lot of articles and thought: ‘This doesn’t sound like what they’re saying.’ “There was something familiar about it, but not quite,” he recalls, explaining that the relationship lasted seven years.
“The problem arose gradually, like a frog being scalded in boiling water. “It started slowly,” the actor said, adding that the separation took place shortly before filming for the 2022 movie “Alice, Darling,” which is about emotional abuse.
“It was unexpected, but based on deep trust and love for this person. “I thought the problem was me,” Kendrick continued. “If anyone among us was broken, it was definitely me. So it was very difficult for me to say, “No, this is it.” “I tried to change myself to improve the situation.”
Kendrick also noted that they had several therapy sessions over the past few years in which the ex-partner apologized after realizing what had happened. “When I expressed my feelings during one of the sessions, something changed,” he said.
The actor wrote an apology letter to his therapist, but the therapist called him and said he was proud of her bravery. “Things changed quickly after that,” Kendrick admitted.
Anna also described one of the unpleasant events she experienced as follows: “One day, she told me that I scared her just because I started crying. I couldn’t pretend everything was okay anymore and he yelled, “You’re terrorizing me.”
