Shakira reflected on love, sharing her feelings about breaking up with Gerard Pique in a new interview with Spanish GQ.

The Colombian singer stated that music helped him cope with his loss. “After the breakup, I stayed silent for months and tried to process my pain. It wasn’t until I started writing music that I began to grieve. This became my method of healing. “This process is not linear, full of ups and downs,” he admitted.
Shakira also talked about her parents, who are examples of true love for her. “My mother and father are the greatest example of real relationships. Their love overcomes any obstacle. They have been together for 50 years. I see my mother looking at my father as if he were the last person on the planet, and I see him responding the same way. They’re still like lovers. My father is 93 years old and never makes mistakes. But they have such a love that they can withstand all tests,” the singer explained.

Despite the difficulties brought by the separation, Shakira noted that she was with her loved ones who supported her during this difficult period. “Love exists but for a select few. This is a kind of VIP club that not everyone can get into. Some get to be a part of it and they are lucky,” he added.
Let’s remember that Shakira and Gerard Pique started dating after shooting the video for the song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which became the anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Despite their long-term relationship, the couple was not officially married. They announced their separation in the summer of 2022. The former lovers are raising two sons together: Milan and Sasha.
