The musician admitted that the band will first release a new full-length album in honor of its 40th anniversary in 2018: “I felt like we needed to take stock. It was a big plan, and in my experience, big plans don’t usually work out very well!”

“Everything’s going to be okay this time. After finishing this album, we’re almost done with the second one. The third one is going to be a little bit harder because if we get that far… Speaking of the third album, you know what I mean? “I can’t help myself,” Smith said.

The Cure will release their highly anticipated 14th album, Songs of a Lost World, on November 1. On September 26, the group presented the first song from the album, “Alone”. This is the post-punk band’s first song in 16 years. The second track, titled “A Fragile Thing”, was released on October 9.
