An Australian airline has found itself in hot water due to a poor selection of family-friendly movies. An R-rated movie was shown on board during the flight.
During the flight, passengers had trouble selecting movies from individual screens. In this case, the carrier resorts to applications that show family movies. The Carrier considered which movie a family movie, but the Washington Post reported it was the independent drama “Daddy,” starring Johnson and Sean Penn, which was released in June.
An intimate drama that unfolds almost entirely during a long taxi ride; Here, the chauffeur (Sean Penn) offers sage advice to a young woman (Dakota Johnson) who finds herself at a crossroads in her personal life. Full male nudity and exposed female breasts appear during the film. The majority of the film consists of a conversation between the couple, who constantly use profanity and erotic remarks.
“It is clear that the film was not suitable for screening and we sincerely apologize to our customers for this incident. Company representatives commented on the incident to Entertainment Weekly: “It is our standard practice for family movies to be combined on all screens in the event of a malfunction.”
Perhaps airline staff were confused by the film’s title, which refers fondly to the father. But by an interesting coincidence, the main character jokingly called the elderly taxi driver with whom he had a friendly conversation, father.
