Ryan Reynolds broke down in tears after visiting his young fan in hospital who is battling cancer. The child is suffering from a rare form of cancer.
The Deadpool star, 47, shocked eight-year-old Nash Cote when he walked into his hospital room at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he is being treated for rhabdomyosarcoma.
The boy is undergoing a six-week proton radiation treatment and has adorned his radiation mask as a Deadpool mask, which caught the actor’s attention.
Nash’s mother, radio host Angie Poirier, sent Reynolds a photo on social media and received an unexpected meeting offer. It ended up lasting more than an hour.
In footage that emerged online, the actor came to Nash’s room with gifts and tried on his mask. He later video-chatted with Hugh Jackman. “It’s a shame that not every child who needs treatment can get it here. And I wish every parent whose child is sick could get their child in such hands. Nash, you’re the best. I love you, man,” Reynolds captioned the video.
The child’s mother stated that the actor made every effort to please the child and noted that this event will remain in the family’s memory for a lifetime.
