Pavel Durov spoke for the first time about his arrest in France. The creator of Telegram devoted a voluminous post to the incident on his page.

Durov said that after arriving in Paris, he was interrogated for four days, which surprised the businessman greatly, because, according to Pavel, the official representative office of his company is always open to dialogue.

He also noted that it is not easy to strike the right balance between privacy and security, but his team is constantly looking for compromises between the company’s principles and the legislation of each user country.

“I hope that the events of August will lead to a safer and stronger Telegram and the social media industry as a whole. Thanks again for the love and memories,” Pavel wrote.

Let’s recall that on August 24, it became known that Telegram founder Pavel Durov was detained at a French airport. He was accused of refusing to cooperate in cyber and financial crimes in Telegram. The businessman previously faced up to 20 years in prison. On August 28, BFMTV reported that the billionaire was released from custody. The media wrote that “the investigating judge terminated his detention in police custody for the purpose of preliminary questioning and possible criminal charges.” The prosecutor’s office reported that the preliminary investigation into the Telegram case in France was launched in February 2024.
