Debris from NASA’s DART probe’s collision with the asteroid Dimorph could reach Earth. This could happen within seven years, Science Alert reports, citing Spanish researchers.

In 2022, the first successful mission to change the orbit of an asteroid was carried out, as a result of which the NASA spacecraft crashed into Dimorph. The collision resulted in a cone of millions of small particles scattered from the cosmic body and the NASA apparatus.
It was possible to learn that scattered particles moving at a speed of 1800 kilometers per hour will reach Mars in 13 years. However, there are also those whose speed reaches 5400 kilometers per hour. They will be able to reach Earth in only seven years. It is likely that about 30 years will pass before the outbreak can be seen in the Earth’s atmosphere.
